101 a live look across the span. mass transit still dealing with ace train delays just train number one running 5 minutes behind schedule we just checked ace train number 3 gets two thumbs up. that is on time more traffic coming up including a check of the bay bridge toll plaza. in the meantime back to you. 6:00 a.m. this morning a quick thinking teen helped save his family from a fast moving fire, that started this morning. sharon is at the mobile home park where firefighters are still mopping up. >> reporter: good morning frank. the fire gutted this mobile home here at the harbour village mobile home park. fire crews say a mother and her four children and a friend, the children all aged 7 to 17, they all got out safely, because of her 17-year-old son. firefighters are calling him a hero. fire apparently broke out after 2:00 a.m. the mother thought she smelled smoke thought she was dreaming got up walked toward the washer
drier area, where the smoke was coming from she couldn't get to the children so she yelled her 17-year-old son was able to get out his siblings and the child's friend out through two windows everyone was safe and firefighters say it could have been much worse without his quick thinking. >> yeah, pretty amazing for this young man the keep his composure and help his siblings out. i talked to him after, he is quiet, very humble about what occurred didn't want any media attention down playing the whole thing but really, the family is extremely fortunate we could have had a tragedy out here this morning. well, the fire destroyed their home most of their possessions, and the two cars parked nearby. the red cross was called to help with clothing, meantime the family is staying with the mothers sister. the battallion chief you heard from said the blaze appears accidental the fire marshall is coming at first light to
investigate he said the mobile home also had two smoke detectors but the mother was not able to hear them apparently the batteries were not working in either of them so really good reminder just to have batteries changed when we do set our clocks twice a year. frank. >> lesson learned there. sharon chen. thank you. 70 southwest airline flights cancelled today. those are to inspect boeing 737- 300 aircraft. the airline took all those planes out of service after a 5- foot hole opened in the passenger cabin roof of a flight that took off from phoenix. >> small cracks have been found on at least three planes that were checked so far. kit is at oakland international with how passengers are dealing with all the problems all the delays and all the cancellations good morning. >> good morning sydnie. we just checked the boards inside the terminal here of all the flights leaving between now
and 9:00 a.m. there are 48 of them of those 8 have been cancelled so far. so oakland international certainly bearing the brunt of all the cancellationflights here in the bay area. if you have a flight with southwest this morning, it is a good idea to check before you get on out the door. they are inspecting 79 airplanes today, they are looking for tiny cracks in the fuselage. so far the company has found cracks in three jets, the company has a large fleet of those jets, 548 like the one that had the problem on friday, that plane was headed from phoenix to sacramento and tore a 5-foot hole in the roof oxygen masks deployed the plane landed safely in yuma with two people suffering minor injuries. it has been a frustrating weekend for southwest passengers who dealt with hundreds of cancellations. >> i would be more upset if i knew something like that happened and they didn't do their due diligence. >> planes need to be safe. they are taking proactive
measurements. so i don't have a problem with that. >> so it looks like the company is slowly starting to get a handle on this. 3400 flights a day of those 70 are cancelled they should have it all buttenned up by tomorrow night. >> thank very much. want to let you know another southwest emergency to report, a flight from oakland to san an was forced to make an emergency landing in los angeles last night because of a burning smell in the cabin. the plane was the same model being inspected but a southwest spokesperson says this is not related to an issue that forced an emergency landing in arizona. >> faa will pull the wreckage of a small plane out of the mud near oakland airport. the coroner identified the victim as 73-year-old pilot richard man yell he was killed when the -- manuel he was killed when the single engine
plane crashed yesterday afternoon. it is buried in mud on the edge of san leandro bay. it took off from oakland at north field flew a mile at low elevation and nose dived. the engine failed and they heard the plane go down into the marine area. several witnesses rushed to the scene in an attempt to try to rescue the individual, get him out of the plane but they were unsuccessful because of the way he is situated in the mud. >> that pilot was the only person onboard the flight. let's get another check of weather and traffic down stairs to julie. how is it looking? >> clear and cool to start this monday temperatures for most in the 40s although we are in the low 50s for the warmest spots by the bay. later today temperatures warm area wide. mid-70s by the bay upper 70s for the warmest spots inland significantly warmer than yesterday. that is thanks to high pressure placed combined with offshore

minutes after take you have it was not gaining altitude some sort of white smoke was coming out of one of the engines the pilots landed it back at new orleans airport i guess it was rocky and windy there as well. >> yeah, it never really gained much altitude they say but as soon as they landed the flight attendants screamed to everyone get out leave all your stuff. the flight ending in just minutes but they said there were no announcements on the loud speakers but again these are live pictures we are seeing now from our sister station w wl new orleans we will continue to monitor this story this is happening, united airlines route on route to sfo. clear skies this morning same clear skies will help warm things up later today. temperatures area wide, 72 san

three younger siblings and a child friend out safely. the fire broke out after 2:00 a.m. flames were shooting out of the window when crews arrived and everyone was already out of the home the mother thought she smelled smoke got up and saw smoke in the washer drier area in the middle of the home she was not able to get to her children age 7 to 17 she screamed her 17-year-old son got up and was able to get his three siblings and family friend out of bedroom and bathroom windows safely. the home had two smoke detectors but the batteries were not working. >> we try to remind folks with the change in the clock, change your smoke detectors. the mom said she was not sure when the last time was she checked or changed the batteries. the results were okay here but it could just as easily have

sfo, two flights san jose, and then four flights here at oakland have been cancelled due to these inspections however, if you go inside the terminal, you can count eight departures and four arrivals cancelled so we are not exactly clear what exactly is going on here but there is a discrepancy. not sure how many of these cancelled flights have to do with inspections but they are bearing the brunt of cancellations and delays as a result of inspections if you have a flight with southwest it is a good idea to check it before you head on out the door they are inspecting 79 airplanes this morning looking for tiny cracks in fuselage, using a tiny testing pros is. they have found cracks in three jets, out of a large fleet of 548 that had the problem on friday. that happened when a plane headed from phoenix to sacramento tore a 5 foothold in the roof of the plane oxygen

made an emerge live pictures from new orleans. united airlines plane, if you see there, headed to san francisco had to make an emergency landing back to the the new orleans airport it was forced to turn back minutes after take off. we are hearing reports there was white smoke spotted coming from the engine. that plane was apparently rocking back and forth in windy weather and never gained much altitude. the copilot telling an associated press reporter he landed on back up systems, the plane lost all electronic function the copilot saying it had a lot of fuel and ran off the runway and blew a tire. this emergency landing, united airlines flight new orleans to

to back up at the bay bridge toll plaza. this happens at 6:44 a.m. it is stacked up looks like to just about the end of the lot right now. mike tells us it is slow going from the incline all the way out towards the s curve. drive time down the east shore freeway, not bad from the carcenas bridge to the maze. all right we will continue to check the ride across the bay area. right now the ride through marin looks great as you head into san raphael, here is a look at northbound 101, 580, southbound looks good the commute direction as well. down through the waldo grade, heading towards the golden gate bridge, nemitz from our live sensors, 61 miles per hour and a live look as you pass the coliseum. so far so good as you make your way up toward high street. westbound 580, not the case here. looks busy already coming out of the altamonte pass. 24 minutes right now from 205

those other companies. millions of customers may have been effected by this, what does this mean for customers at this point? third party customers, there has been a data breech you may get a fishing e-mail. it is meant to dupe customers into thinking it may be from chase bank and get them today as a rulening their personal information like -- divulge their personal information like numbers and passwords. if there is a link disregard and delete it. that is the message from banks and these other customers of epsilon. we did contact the company and the spokesperson said they are working with authorities to identify the source. the latest from silicon valley back to you guys. >> thanks very much.

passengercrew getting off this united airlines flight bound for san francisco this morning. it had to make an emergency landing back in new orleans a half hour ago just moments after take off there were reports of light white smoke coming from the engine. the copilot told an associated press reporter that the plane lost all electronics and he landed on back up systems back in new orleans with minimal steering and braking ability. lucky to get that plane back on the ground. it ran off the runway and blew a tire when it touched down. as soon as it was on the ground a number of flight attendants shouted leave everything get out. they slid down the front and backslide several treated for minor injuries. i am sure a lot of anxious people here waiting for that flight to come in. >> the latest of mishaps with flights.
>> dudsens of southwest airline flights are cancelled so they can inspect planes for possible safety problems. kit has more on how bay area flights have been effected. good morning kit. >> reporter: good morning the official word from southwest this morning is one flight has been cancelled at sfo two in san jose and four here in oakland because of these potential safety problems so it looks like oakland international is baring the brunt of all these cancellations and delays as they look for these cracks in the fuselage. if you have a flight with southwest it might be a very good idea to check your flight before you head out the door. they are looking for tiny cracks in the fuselage in 79 of their airplanes and so far they have found cracks in three of their jets they have 548 of them like the one that had the problem on friday, that was when the plane was heading from phoenix to sacramento, tore a 5- foot hole in the roof oxygen masks went down, two people suffered minor injuries that plane landed safely. it has been a frustrating
